I don’t deny that I booked a flight to LA because of soondubu. Haha, I first discovered from Uber Eats back in my 2022 trip. I had an epic incident back in 2022 which I don’t think I blogged about it earlier. Anyway, the tldr is that I really love the seafood soondubu that I wanted to come back again in 2023. So here I am!
Thankful that Gulabi joined me for lunch so we can order more food this time to share.
So the story back in 2022 is that I took an Uber to Santa Monica Pier to take sunset photos then I went to the Tofu-Ya restaurant back public bus. Then somehow I decided to take public train back to my hotel at night. It was like 8pm or 9pm so it was quite late for someone to stay out late. I walked passed by under a bridge and saw many tents of homeless people and 1 homeless guy. It freaked me out and I was texting my colleagues on WhatsApp. I regretted and should have taken an Uber back. :/
I reached the train station and missed my train. The train station at that time had 4 guys and it was fortunate that it was overhead station. It was feeling a bit unsafe to take Uber from the streets near the station especially when I saw a police car just parking there to monitor and some homeless people at the streets too. The area around seems dark and unsafe too. The train station seems the safest around the area too.
Anyway, I stood near the Chinese guy who seems to be the most normal one in the station and made it back to the hotel safely. Somehow West LA felt more unsafe than Downtown LA. What an irony.

Gulabi found this cafe online but I don’t remember where is it exactly. I know it is within walking distance from our hotel at Santa Monica. The drinks are so-so but the croissants are amazing. Almond croissant is really very tasty!

I’m quite excited to visit Disneyland, not because of the rides but the beauty and photos I can take there. For those who know me personally, you will know that I never and will never be a rides/amusement park kind of lady.
It’s quite expensive trip though. I spent S$56.22 just on Uber rides from hotel to Disneyland both ways. I went with Revathi and Gulabi so S$56.22 is after splitting the cost threeways. So yes, it is quite expensive. Then the ticket to both parks at Disneyland is S$357.72. Yes, I paid for priority access and I did make use of it a few times so I would say it is worth it. The crowd is just way too scary. So that’s S$413.94 just for the rides and entry ticket for 1 person for a single day. 😮
Will I go back again? Nope, but I would love to visit the one at Florida where they have 7 parks. Haha. It’s like a once in a lifetime experience.
I took lots of photos and given that I went there to take photos, I did manage to capture lots of moments and I uploaded quite a few on my Instagram accounts. I shall share it over here to document this special and expensive memory. Specifically the S$414 memory hahaha.
I brought my backpack for the trip to bring my tripod and camera only to realise that I forgot to pack both items after I reached Disneyland. :/ So all the photos are taken by my iPhone 13 Pro… Oh well, the photo quality would have been better if it is taken by my camera, especially the night shots. I guess I just have to make do with whatever I have.
Food is not more expensive than outside of Disneyland but it certainly tasted quite nice. My standard of asian food quality dropped a lot when I am in US because beggars can’t be choosers. 🙂
Of course I didn’t take the ride. Just look at the ride video below…
This got to be my favourite sweet/lollipop so far. It’s the mickey mouse lemon and cola candy that I discovered while shopping for toothbrushes at Welca. What an irony right? Haha, I love it so much that I already finished 2 packs of 5 of it so far… Need to find time to top up it soon.
We do have casinos in Singapore but for the locals, we need to pay an entrance fee to enter the casino. So I have never been to a casino before.
So I took up the offer when my colleagues asked if I will be interested to visit Casino Arizona. I’m not keen in gambling but I don’t mind seeing what is it like. It’s a bit mindblowing how concentrated the customers were at each game, especially the bingo game.
In the end, I just had dinner at the casino and watched some live music band performance. Not something you expect from someone visiting casino hahaha.
