I realised I have been wasting my time on social media apps like Facebook and Instagram. It seems like catching up with friends by looking at what they posted on social media.

I realised that I have not been working hard at improving myself in terms of technical knowledge. I still haven’t work towards a technical certification this year. I have placed an order on Amazon for my CISSP book and hopefully, I will actually study for it and take the exam by this year. Gambatte, Sakura!

I realised that I have not been working hard to improve my violin techniques and not practising it daily when I should be. Well, at least once every 2 days, maybe? In case I injured my finger again.

I realised I have not been blogging about my overseas trip which I aimed to do so previously. Time to start reviewing my photos and review the places I went too in Korea and China!

I realised I have not been posting the photos I took with my camera for a really long time. Time to start looking at them and editing them to make them look Instagram ready and post them on Lihotography.

I have been wasting too much time and not using them to the fullest. It’s time to change…

Ah, that’s what I realized too when I evaluated my social media usage and the time I spent in it. As you know, I’ve cut back on my social media usage; but then, there’s still too much “clutter” and unfinished business in my life at the moment so I cannot focus on more important stuff. Like you, I also want to devote more time to improve my skills and document my life.

Social media is the least of my priorities, but I’ve been getting better at posting to Instagram at least. Perhaps, since you’ve realized you haven’t been posting to your social media handles as much as you’d like, the respective social media is not as big a priority as you once thought?

I’ve been trying to stay off social media as well, but mostly because it takes a beating on my mental health for more reasons that I can explain.

We all spend too much time scrolling and not appreciating whats important. From how I see it, what’s so important on your phone when you can just look forward and enjoy the moment, rather posting everything on snapchat? Sure, it’s great to have memories, and take a few selfies here and there, but quite frankly, nobody cares what you’re having for dinner, or what outfit you’re wearing today.

      Awesome post!

I totally understand how that feels. The realisation sucks sometimes, but also quite motivating! I hope that this motivates you to reach your goals, but also remember that it’s completely okay just to chill out and do nothing once in a while. Though monitoring our usage is always so important on social media – I’m sure you know how much I’ve been banging on about this!
