I just spent the last 30 minutes pondering really hard on which strings set to buy for my violin. Apparently, I have bought the wrong string set and wrong type of rosin. Bleh. Those were recommended by the salesperson at Swee Lee Music Company. Sigh. Anyway, I think I will change to a harder rosin after my soft Oliv Rosin Evah has finished. Oh well… The comforting fact is that my steel strings (Pirastro Chromcor) is very lasting. It’s like it won’t break… Unfortunately, the tone quality is not that nice. Now my violin has 3 Chromcor and 1 Dominant strings. The tonal difference between Chromcor and Dominant is quite big and it always makes me feel a bit weird while playing the violin. Time to change to a new set of violin strings. I think I will probably change it after my NUSSO concert since I prefer not to sound so loud when playing in an orchestra…

Anyway, I have decided to go back to Dominant strings set. I originally wanted to try Pirastro Tonica strings set but I am not sure if it will suit my violin and decided not to take the risk of buying the whole set. Maybe in future I will buy 1 string from the Pirastro Tonica set or Evah Pirrazzi set that is supposedly suitable for my current rosin type and used by famous violinists such as Joshua Bell, if I remember correctly… It is also one of the most expensive set… I guess I will just buy the E string which is the cheapest among the other strings in the same set in future…
