The long wait is over! I have finally finished the first half of the mobile app, Music Scoreify! Actually, I have finished the first half some time back but didn’t have the courage to release it to the public.
Don’t know what is Music Scoreify all about?
It is a music transcription tool that is only available on Android. Sorry to the iOS people. You still have a lot of other cool music apps available at the Apps Store. It’s definitely time for the Android people to have some really cool and new music apps available for them.
This beta version 0.5 has the following features:
What can you do with Music Scoreify?
Thinking of composing a melody? Hum it out loud to your Android phone (and make sure that it is relatively pitch perfect) and extract the music score using Finale Notepad. Music Scoreify do take care of some minor pitch imperfections but please don’t hum note G4 when you mean note E4. It will just give you G4 instead.
Want to learn a new instrument, such as string instruments, but do not know if you have play the melody in tune? Use Music Scoreify and it will help you check. Just play the notes in crotchets at 120bpm and verify it by exporting out the music score from your Android phone. Music Scoreify supports budding musicians in getting accurate intonation so that your teachers will spend less time correcting your intonation during your music lessons!
As Music Scoreify is in beta version, there are a lot more features that I wish to add but could not add it in this version due to time and technical constraints. Hence, Music Scoreify is optimized to process music at 120bpm and all in crotchets at the moment. If you would like it process music at another tempo or another music note type, you can drop me an email at musicscoreify[@]violinstar.net and I will customise it for you if it is technically possible.
Meanwhile, any bug reports can be sent to me via email at musicscoreify[@]violinstar.net and I will try my best to fix them.
Last but not least, I hope Music Scoreify will help you and your musical development as a budding musician/composer.
Prerequisites
If your SD card is full and you prefer to load the folder in your phone memory, please email me at musicscoreify[@]violinstar.net and I will send you a different APK file that directly creates the folder in your phone memory instead of SD card.
How to use the app?
If you accidentally deleted the “musicxml.xml” file, you can re-process the audio recording by clicking the “Read wav file” button.
Download:
You can download the app here.
How to submit bug report?
If the app crashes while you are using it or you cannot view the music score, please take a screen capture of the “Read wav file” screen on the app and send me the audio recording file, “tempwavefile.wav” so that I can stimulate the environment that caused the app to crash. Please tell me your Android device as well as your current Android OS version. I can be contacted via email at musicscoreify[@]violinstar.net.
